Mama Glow is a maternity wellness company founded by Latham Thomas and based in New York. It offers doula training as well as an array of offerings in the areas of fertility, pregnancy and motherhood. The company recently launched The Soft Space, a 2,300-square-foot oasis, located in Williamsburg at 208 N 8th Street. “The concept was born out of the collective need for ease, softness and recalibration in response to the challenging times we are living and is a dream realized by Mama Glow founder, Latham Thomas,” says the company.
The Mama Glow foundation will be offering professional doula training programs, dance and movement, yoga, meditation, sound baths, reiki, crystal work, childbirth education, doula meet-ups and CPR at The Soft Space. It also hosts book signings, lectures, symposiums, retreats, blessing ways, product launches and pop-ups.
To celebrate the opening of The Soft Space, Mama Glow hosted a Holiday Bazaar. The event was festive and showcased 20 Black owned and female founded brands. Some of the featured vendors were A Life Balanced, The Blended Garden, Divine Sacred Space, K Smith Studio and Reprise activewear just to name a few. Almost all of the black owned businesses had a focus on healing, holistic health and sustainability. Leona Hari, who is the programming and partnerships coordinator at Mama Glow, organized the event.
Holiday Bazaar was open to the public and featured products for skincare, holistic health, pre/postnatal wellness, activewear, infant apparel, home goods, candles, fragrances and more. “There were vendors that showcased their hand-made baby clothes and environmentally safe body butters, hand poured candle brands, herbalists, jewelry and bag makers, along with postpartum support brands,” said mentor and doula of the Mama Glow Foundation, Karma Tudor. A tarot card reader was on hand and guests were served refreshments. “Local doula community members gathered and embraced each other in the library of The Soft Space,” said Tudor. “It felt like a mini Doula Expo but more so focused on the solo-entrepreneurs of the black and brown community that support the work of black and brown birthing people.”
