The Bronx Night Market

By Adrian Currie

It’s been four years now since the Bronx Night Market opened in Spring of 2017. Bronxites as well as other New Yorkers and visitors come out each Saturday to celebrate culture and cuisine in The Bronx. Vendors line up in Fordham Plaza, representing their brand, culture, and of course, cuisine.

This day was no different as vendors, performers, nonprofits, and more came out for the night. There was live entertainment, games, samples, and raffles. Micro-business owners were represented as well with their brand, products, and services at the event.

Covid-19 restrictions were lax this evening; some patrons wore masks while others did not.

There were plenty of options for food. As one Yelp user put it, “A great variety of food options… Support your local vendors and neighborhood bites!”

According to The Bronx Night Market website, the event has contributed to launching over a dozen new Bronx businesses and has had more than 100 performers onstage.

The Bronx Night Market runs from April to November and is always free. The Market supports small business owners and has served tens of thousands of patrons in its four years.

The Market recently celebrated its four-year anniversary back in June with some Covid restrictions.
