The museum was temporarily closed June 15th due to construction.

Kichka’s Breakfast I, 1960 by Daniel Spoerri (1930).

The museum now has an additional 45,000 square feet. Here photos of MoMa December 7, 1939 to January 30,1939.

Encierro (Confinement), 1968. These photos were taken during Argentinean military dictatorship of Graciela Carnevale.

Ever since MoMa’s grand opening in November 7, 1929, its size, architecture and hospitality has been progressing making it more welcoming for visitors.

For its re-opening, MoMa displayed historic, political, gothic, and religious paintings, sculptures and photographs, along with modern art.

Frederick Kiesler, 1890-1965. Multi-use Chairs (1942), Multi-use Rocker Prototype (1942), Sculpture Stand (1942).“These seats were a kind of wave which curved down, surged up, and fell once more, thus forming an object without beginning or end.”

Untitled, 1968 by Dan Flavin (1933-1996). Flavin viewed his art as “situations” instead of sculptures because of the relationship between the physical object and the illuminated surroundings.

Woman Dressing Her Hair by Pablo Picasso (1881-1973). A woman grooming herself into a “powerful grotesque,” reveals anxiety and the confinement among people, especially women, during the Nazi period.

Christ’s Entry into Journalism ,(2017) by Kara Walker. “The past and present collapse in this piece, beginning with its title, which invokes Christ’s entry into Jerusalem.” There are public figures such as Martin Luther King Jr. and Frederick Douglas.
