Ice Theatre of New York

After many obstacles and much anticipation, Van Cortlandt Park Ice Skating Rink had its grand opening on November 19, 2012.

This wonderful winter activity will be sure to get everyone partaking of the holiday spirit. “For a moment you forget you’re skating in the city,” said Christopher Higins, 25, a local resident, explaining that he loves the feeling of brisk air on his face and the sound of the metal blades on the ice.

Located on Broadway and 242nd Street (at the former tennis courts), the rink is open to the public seven days a week until March 30, 2013.

Skate and helmet rental are available at the rink, which also has a skating school. It also offers birthday party packages.
