Gustav Klimt’s Gold in Motion at Hall des Lumières is set inside the elaborate former teller hall of the historic Emigrant Industrial Savings Bank. The show opened September 14, 2022 with an inaugural exhibition of Gustav Klimt’s work. The Kiss (1907-1908), Klimt’s most famous work, depicts a couple embracing in a field of flowers.
Gustav Klimt was an Austrian painter (1862-1918) who used gold leaf in his art. (Painting: Life and Death)
Immersive art exhibitions frequently use cutting-edge technology and creative design to transport visitors to another world, allowing them to immerse themselves in and experience the art. (Painting: Amalie Zuckerkandl)
Klimt’s erotic paintings are featured in this experience. His works were frequently censored. (Painting: Nude Veritas)
This is the portrait of Adele-Bloc Beur. Portraits allow us to experience intimacy in a different way. This one was the most popular because it portrays women in a different light. We move away from erotica and into the realm of the maiden. Observing the vulnerability in her eyes and the flushed appearance of her cheeks.
Gustav captures women in a variety of settings. In this light, we see the heroine encrusted in gold, as well as the warrior in her tall posture. Is this a tribute to the strong female? (Painting: Pallas Athena )
The establishment is dimly lit to enhance the viewer’s other senses. There are three floors for viewing. Each floor offers seating. It is a very spacious and comfortable setting.
Gianfranco Lannuzzi was the creative director for the immersive art experience.
The show is on at 49 Chambers Street every day except for Tuesday when it is closed. You need timed entry tickets which you can buy online or at the box office.
