The Haunted Hayride on Randall’s Island is a seriously spooky ride. There is rarely a dull moment during the hour-long ride. Evil clowns leer while banging knives against steel trucks and brandishing a chainsaw, just without the chain. Characters from American Horror Story, H. P. Lovecraft’s Cthulhu and demon children follow the trucks. A nice last touch is a sick homelessness person coughing, sneezing and trying to touch the riders.
The ride is $35 per person. For those who don’t want to go on the ride, there is a psychic with a talking pumpkin and monsters that walk around just waiting to scare you. As one staffer put it, “All the horror you can want on an island with only one way to escape. It is a great to celebrate to Halloween.”
