Recapturing the Scenic Wilds

Glyndor Gallery in Wave Hill is exhibiting art inspired by politician and naturalist Theodore Roosevelt. (By Avinoam Idhe)

In late September, assistant curator David Xu Borogonjon conducted a tour of the exhibit.

Roosevelt, a one-time resident of Wave Hill House, had a youthful passion for observing animals and plants in their natural environments. The exhibition displays nine artists who share Roosevelt’s love of natural history.

The gallery also features work from artists Richard Barnes, Alexa Hoyer, Liselot van der Heijden, Dana, Levy, Mark Dion, Ruth Marshall, Jessica Segall and Hugh Hayden.

Glyndor Gallery in Wave Hill, an estate in the Hudson Hill section of the Riverdale neighborhood of the Bronx.

The park’s 28 acres are occupied by public horticultural gardens and a cultural center, all of which overlook the Hudson River.

The park is listed in the National Register Of Historic Places because of its rich history and residents such as author Mark Twain.

The exhibit will remain at Glyndor until December 7, 2014.
