Bronx Teen Missing

A devastated Bronx mother is desperately searching for her missing teenage daughter. Coralys Guzman, 15, 5’8″ with a thin to medium build, has been missing since May 15. Coralys was last seen last Wednesday, May 16th, at around 2pm, by a bodega owner on White Plain Roads and Nereid Avenue. He says she came in and borrowed $6, supposedly to pick up her little brother from school, saying that her mother would pay him back later.

Coralys didn’t pick up her brother from school and never returned home that evening. Yasdel Reyes, 34, Coraly’s mother, is worried because even though Coralys has left home before, it has never been for this long. She says her daughter has stayed out late in the past and left home once but returned the next day. Reyes is concerned someone might harm her or she might harm herself.

She says her daughter has been diagnosed with schizophrenia and depression. Reyes says she also has a history of cutting herself, the last time being this past Mother’s Day, three days before being reported missing. Coralys has distinguishing scars on her left arm from cutting, as well as burn marks. She also has a scar her left cheek. She has very short black, wavy hair with a red streak along the back.

Although she lives near the Wakefield section of the Bronx, she is believed to be closer to the Burnside area. “Someone is hiding her. She must be going from house to house.” her mother says. She was believed to be spotted last Friday and Saturday by Jerome and Davidson Avenue. Right now, a search is being conducted by the Bronx Safety Patrol in the 46th precinct, which include the areas between Burnside, East Tremont, and Fordham Road. Meanwhile, her mother sits, staring out the window and praying to God that her daughter is found safe.

If you have any information, please call Crime Stoppers, 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
